Oak Tree Animals’ Charity

Group 4 at Kirby Moor School took a visit to the Oak Tree Animals’ Charity in Wetheral – a local charity dedicated to the welfare and well-being of animals, and which is part of our Community Links project in school.

Oak Tree Animals’ Charity is one that we have worked with for a while, building strong working relationships, going on educational visits and getting involved in various fundraising activities.

During this particular trip, young people learnt about equine welfare as well as the importance of enrichment activities at the shelter to encourage mental stimulation for the animals. The group went foraging for tasty plants and weeds in the forest to hide around the stables for the donkeys to find as an enrichment activity. They also filled hay nets for the horses!

After lunch, pupils headed into the woodland area to do some den-building and a treasure hunt.

A great day!
